Now this I am excited about:
Grammy-winning duo Gnarls Barkley are offering fans the chance to experience their recent live performance in New York City by releasing The iTunes Soho Sessions.
The five-song EP will feature the group giving updated and remixed versions of their hit singles with alternate perspectives on songs like “Crazy” and “A Little Better.” Aiming to use the release as a tribute to each song’s true origins, one of the band’s spokesmen explained the simplicity applied to the iTunes exclusive.
“Gnarls wanted to celebrate the essence of the songs,” the band’s spokesman said via their website. “By playing simplified versions and letting the emotions do the lifting. Sometimes the less that’s happening, the more you hear. I just blew my own mind.”
Composed of well-known producer Danger Mouse and former Goodie Mob rapper Cee-Lo, the group’s EP will also allow fans to re-interpret singles like “Who’s Gonna Save My Soul” by changing the scenario to a “twisted showdown from a spaghetti Western movie,” according to the album’s description on iTunes. The
iTunes Soho Sessions is currently available exclusively on Apple’s iTunes.
